Seminar 21, "Les Non-Dupes Errent": Opening class
In 1973, Jacques Lacan arranges the 21 seminar course. We share with you the first class of this seminar.
Showing off his own irony, he proposed the title: "Les non-Dupes Errent" or "Les Noms Du Père". It relies on the richness of the language, in the homophonic encounter where that rhymes. A joke, which refers to that only Class of November 26th, 1963, "Introduction to the names of the father", which then would be the non-existent Seminar. Moments of the excommunication, in which he is separated from the IPA. Of that, he promised to never speak, but the momentum made its move and it started advancing 10 years later in this inaugural class, of the Seminar 21 , "(...) To a good listener, few words, (...)
