Within the framework of the Teaching of the ECF 2016-2017 in Paris, Pierre Gilles Guéguen presents: "Seminar 4: Neurosis, Psychosis and Perversions. Lacan's Pragmatics". "Generations of practitioners have studied the classic Lacan that teaches the supremacy of the symbolic register in dissolving imaginary formations, where he located the origin of the symptoms. This clinic was first of all a clinic of signification, that is to say a clinic which refers to the Name of the Father. In 1998, a new category, that of "ordinary psychosis" –a signifier invented by Jacques-Alain Miller– was put forward to address the practicalities of clinical reality. It designates the deficit of the 'quilting point' ("le point de caption") which Lacan had described at the end of Seminar Three as "the Name-of-the-Father," and which functioned as a presence-absence binary. Thus a clinic of the continuum began to be described from the facts. Neurosis, Psychosis and Perversion are now no longer perceived as certainly discrete as they were in the past."
