Elections of sex in Radio Lacan: XXY
Radio Lacan has wanted to be present in the preparation of the annual meeting of the Schools of the WAP.
On 6th and 7th December, the ELP will hold their 13th Conference, which is entitled "Election of the sex. From standard to invention".
We think that cinema addresses some of these elections from different perspectives, and we've invited some of our colleagues from the various schools of the WAP so they could give us little hints about how they think that some film director in particular deals with this issue.
On this occasion, we invite Margarita Álvarez, who has chosen the film XXY, -Argentine film from 2007-directed by Lucía Puenzo. Alex is the ambiguous name of the main character in the plot of the film, whose title leads to confusion because the argument is not about the Klinefelter Syndrome, to which it would allude. The film focuses on bordering the real at stake, the real of sex. Although the secret runs through the film, it is slowly revealed that Alex, the 15 year old teenage protagonist, is equipped with an intersex.
Margarita Álvarez is member of the ELP and the WAP, and current Director of the community of Catalonia of the ELP. (2012-14).
Edition: Carmen Conca. Carmen Conca is a psychoanalyst in Zaragoza, member of the ELP and the WAP. Correspondent in Spain and member of Radio Lacan’s International Committee.
