ICLO-NLS Open Seminar January 2017: "Anxiety -In Human Life- A Lacanian Reading with Alan Rowan"
In this seminar Alan Rowan brings us a brief overview of the theme -Anxiety in Human Life- moving from philosophy to Freud and finally Lacan and what he had to say on the topic, whereby his invention of the concept of ‘object a’ is central. Lacan shows not only that anxiety is now without an object, but being of the “real” and thus beyond the symbolic-imaginary matrix, it both defines us and takes the form of a most intimate partner, one that “does not lie”.
