Association of the Freudian Cause VLB: Madness in the 21st Century, or the Triumphs of Religions
Resisting the effort of the qualifying reduction of the DSM project, as well as the nominalist classical psychiatry prolonging the dream of ordering Nature, madness still wander the world and according to the novel methods of this century. Examining the recent terrorist acts, Éric Laurent invites us to consider the close relationship between the mystery of a "crazy cause" impossible to name (lost cause) and the social bond as it functions in religion according to particular requirements of their triumphs. Lacan shows the back of the jouissance of making symbolic bond. Religions are connected to a Real point. The social bond that is constituted is not so much a bond regarding to the Ideal, but an instinctual delusion about the "Whole": an illusion of a possible jouissance. His triumphs depend on the substitution of the brother's community to the body of the Other, of which, such as psychoanalysis teaches us, we can not enjoy.
