On Friday 16th February 2018 on a visit to ICLO-NLS in Dublin, Neus Carbonell gave a seminar titled “The politics of the symptom” which is an expression used in Lacanian psychoanalysis to underline the fact that the symptom has its own politics. That is to say, jouissance always fails to produce an adaptation of the subject to the real. The symptom is the result of this failure. Therefore, the politics of psychoanalysis always deals with this failure. In her talk Neus Carbonnel tries to unravel the consequences of this expression, as well as of others.
